Tropical Storm Colin (Update)

We had business in Tampa today. Heading over was no big deal, but driving home home was fun. Just as we hit the Howard Franklin Bridge to drive across Tampa Bay, the weather took a turn for the worse. Visibility dropped to twenty to thirty feet for a while. Along the causeway portion of the bridge, the waves were crashing over the barrier. Not fun for those driving in to Tampa.

Once we got back to our neighborhood, we took a short drive along Coffeepot Bayou. The water hadn’t come over sea wall yet, but was coming up and out of the storm drains.

Ultimately, it’s just a lot of wind and rain. It’ll be gone by tomorrow.

UPDATE : We survived the night and the last really heavy round of storms early this morning. For this being just a tropical storm who’s center made landfall far to our north, our area took a decent amount of damage. Lots of flooding.

It should go without saying around here, watch out for those “too good to be true” car deals in the coming months. There were plenty of vehicles that took massive water damage from this. Keep your eyes open!

Funny. Down in Venice we got virtually nothing. A little wind and some rain. Of course the local media sent everything and everyone into a panic though.

Glad to hear it’s nothing major. I’m worried we might get something over here in Mississippi this year. It’s been 11 years since Katrina and between then and now we’ve had pretty much nothing.
